Dinesh Chandra Chattopadhyay wanted to publish a magazine catering to teenagers and young adults, to nurture and encourage curiosity and creativity in young minds. Thus, Kishore Bharati was launched in 1968 amidst much fanfare from both young and not-so-young readers. The acclaim received persuaded him to step into book publishing and Patra Bharati was conceived in 1981. Till 2000, Patra Bharati was largely focused on books for children. Tridib Kumar Chattopadhyay, his son and successor, decided to diversify the content offerings of Patra Bharati in 2000. That marked the beginning of creation of our eclectic catalogue consisting of varied genres, authors, topics , stories, novels and so on. The diversity in subject and content enables the brand to appeal to a broad audience, transcending the barriers of age and literary preference.
